Fire Brigade Bicycle!

Anyone who regulary traipses the streets of Manchester might be familiar with the Cycle Ambulance. One day I'll have my camera handy when I come across him but for the time being I'll have to make do with the Birmingham Fire & Ambulance Bicycle that was on display at the Chatsworth Show on Sunday.

Obviously it's not in use anymore and is little more than an immaculately kept display piece, but it's interesting to see that once upon a time a bicycle was thought worthy of being useful by the fire service (albeit for the station post according to the sign on the front).

Note the shiniest rims you will ever see on a bicycle!

  1. What an elegant fire brigade bike!! I hope the postie bike won't end up like that though, like a memory from the past ;)

  2. Funnily enough it looks very much like an early posties bike with the frame mounted front rack.

  4. Most adults and old people prefer the tadpole design as it does not involve too much physical effort and strain that are needed for normal upright bikes. These adult tricycles have a low center of gravity and are lightweight. trike
